Environmental Landscape Associates, Inc. is a custom design-build company started in 1989 by Keith J. Frederick. Based in Bucks County, PA, ELA specializes in creating outdoor living spaces to fit the desires, needs and budget of our clients. We have developed the philosophy that, “A successful company is only as good as its team of employees." ELA takes great pride in making sure that every person we hire is not only competent, but understands and is able to embody our core qualities and values. ELA is a tight knit team of around 25 people including Landscape Architecture BLA’s, horticulturalists, journeyman masons, master carpenters, and landscape installation technicians among others. This quality group of men and woman makes ELA excellent.

The ELA Design-Build Process

Every ELA project starts with an initial client consultation from Keith Frederick, president or Fred Learey, Senior Associate. The next step is for the ELA design staff to develop conceptual designs based on the clients needs, desires and budget. Once the conceptual designs and preliminary pricing are reviewed with the client, ELA will revise designs and pricing based on the client feedback. Having reached the balance of a design the client loves and a budget they can live with, a contract can be signed and the construction process can begin. Once permits are obtained and a construction schedule established, ELA will break ground and build the project.  We pride ourselves on excellent client communications throughout the entire project, providing regular e-mail and personal updates on progress and schedules. Client involvement is one key to an excellent final product. Even once a project is complete, ELA will always be there for the client to provide information or additional services. It is our goal to build clients for life.

Design Services

ELA offers the full range of professional landscape design services. Our design staff has been trained in landscape architecture. Senior Associate Fred Learey graduated with a landscape architecture degree from the University of California, with highest honors from the University and the American Society of Landscape Architects. Fred has over 20 years experience in the profession and has designed and built a variety of projects from quaint outdoor living spaces to elegant estates. Junior designers tend to come from Penn States landscape programs. They assist with plan development, drafting and especially 3D modeling. ELA president Keith Frederick participates in all design work. When needed, ELA calls upon one of their many, trusted consultants such as structural engineers or licensed architects.

Construction Services

All of our installation work is managed and overseen by our in house staff of project managers and field operations supervisors. The majority of the installation work is done by our own crews of masons, carpenters and landscape technicians. We turn to trusted associates when specialty skills are required such as licensed electrical or plumbing work. ELA has built jobs as small as a back yard patio to as large as a 10 acre estate.
